When I was in prison up until 2001, it was virtually unheard of for an inmate to have internet access.  I have read and blogged on situations on where inmates might have access to the internet, but I would suppose the first step is to determine if indeed the inmate and prison allows it.  I might guess that 99% of all prisons would not allow it, but I won't rule out an exception or two.  If youcan, call the prison and find out, or check  it out online.  Off the top of my head, and as an ex felon, I would say that inmates in general don't have get email, but I cannot say that in totality. I know I never had access to the internet, even though I did take computer classes in two different prisons.  If they DO allow it, let us know, that would be most interesting.
