where can i go to receive information on education within the prison system/

I don't know if I can give you absolute information; I'm not sure where you (or your son) are. I teach in a men's prison, and have learned much about the education available and not available. A lot depends on the particular facility, and most of them are deplorable. However, please let me know how I can help, or do my best to try.

My 20 yr old son is in MCFP Springfield prison work unit. They offer a 12month business mgmt course through Ozark Tech College. I would like to know how this works...Does the course come to the prison as correspondence or is there a teacher. His sentence is 18 months. He just went in on 05/28/08. I have not been able to talk or visit w/ him yet. Are their good behavior qualifications before he can sign up? How can the young men work and take college courses? Will he be able to complete this in his time? I am still grieving at this separation from my beautiful only son. He knows he did wrong and accepts his sentence. I believe in him, He was on supervised release for 10 months waiting for the sentence and outcome of his charge. I have prayed over him all of his life. He is the son God gave me to love. He was compliant w/ all the terms of his house arrest and drug testings. I guess I want to hear that he will be able to take advantage of the educ opportunities available while he is there.
