The CMC labor crews are utilized for reclamation, beautification and maintenance of the East Canon Complex infrastructure, its buildings, lands and resources. There are 58 line staff and 7 other staff. SCC provides inmates for Correctional Industry programs to include farm, fish, and chickens.

The mission of the Skyline Correctional Center is to protect the public through efficient and effective management of offenders.

Before Visiting
Before you can visit an offender housed in a DOC facility you must fill out a Visiting Application.

Programs

SCC is the only Level I facility in Canon City and although some educational programs are available, SCC is basically a working camp that provides inmate labor for Correctional Industries.

Programs available at SCC include:

• ABE - Adult Basic Education Secondary Education or GED
• English as a second language
• College Courses offered through Adams State College

Treatment

Inmates assigned to Skyline Correcitional Center are within 60 months of their parole eligiblility date and in many cases have attended numerous treatment programs offered through the Colorado Department of Corrections. Skyline Correctional Center does have drug and alcohol couseling available and encourages continued treatment throughout Community, Parole and upon release.

Offender Services

Food Service:

• Menus are developed by a Registered Dietitian.
• Specialized diets are available to meet medical and religious needs.
• Offenders that work outside the perimeter are served a sack lunch prepared by the SCC Food Service Department.
• Approximately 700 meals are served each day.

Recreation:

• Physical recreation includes a gymnasium with workout room and pool tables available.
• An outdoor recreation yard and outdoor fitness equipment is available as well as participation in facility sporting leagues such as softball, flag football, etc.

History

 

Opened in 1956 with 60 Beds.

• Through construction and double bunking the capacity of SCC is currently 249.
• SCC achieved its original ACA Accreditation in 2002.

Personnel

Associate Warden Bobby Allen has 25 years experience in the corrections field in North Carolina and Colorado. He began his career as a Correctional Officer and has promoted through the ranks.

Custody Control Manager Ray Masse has 25 years experience with the Colorado DOC. He began his career as a Correctional Support Lead Worker in the Food Service Department.
