I am starting this forum to discuss the trials and tribulations of having a brother or sister in prison. It is hard to not have them included in family celebration or even daily family life. Any thoughts?

Hello my name is Stephan Shanks I Am 16 and my mom just joined this site and I saw this and wanted to say something,my brother Donald was given 25L for a crime he did not do and my mom and dad and me and my sister have been trying to help him get back home to us.It has been 8 years and I miss him so much we played football together when I started playing my brother was going to come to all my games. When he was taken from us I was so mad that I started getting in trouble and was running wild my mom was so afraid she was going to lose me 2,but I went to see my big brother and he talked to me and told me I had to be good and take care of mom like he did so I started playing football went to state champ frist year,I play my games for my brother mom takes the pics and we send them each week to him.I was at prison last weekend to see my brother I still cry as we leave I love Donald so much and it hurts me to leave him in that place.Donald is my hero and I will keep working to help my mom find a way to get him home, hes my brother and I will allways stand with him Thank you Stephan Shanks.
Hi Stephan,
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I know there are alot of people, just like you, who are hurting because people they love have been taken from them. It might help if you could share some information with everyone in this group, such as, what State and prison your brother is in, and what the charges were. Also, is your brother a Three Strikes victim?
I certainly cannot promise anything but we will make sure the information gets to any organizations we think my be able to help. For instance, there are alot of Law Schools which have volunteers who review criminal cases where innocent people might be in jail. They do the investigations and try to find proof to free the innocent.
We all certainly admire your strength and encourage you to keep the faith for your brother.
Adrian
Stephan... I just want to say that I think that it takes a lot of courage and strength to show the kind of support you are giving your brother, as well as your mom. Keep it up, and it will only help your brother with his time even more, by knowing what a success you are being with your own life and the help that you provide your mom... It makes me really proud to here these types of stories and how people can stay together and work together to overcome life challenges

my oldest brother is in prison. new expierence for me and a tuff one since i seem to be the only family member helping him and talking to him.
My sister Tina valdez was accused of selling her 15 year old daughter( read my blog for the facts) long story short. My niece and this man where lovers who ran away and finally got caught, came up with bull *** story to take heat off of Jason. Any way every time I think Iv'e heard it all I find out more crap. Last weekend my niece went to visit her brother and guess who took her Jason's mom plus are you ready, my niece has Jason's name tatooed on her back. No one can controll her.She won't tell who tattooed her. Why isn't his mom in jail? She knew where they where from the get go. I am going to see what needs to be done to have her placed in a girls home oh I forgot she's the liar life ruiner she gets to enjoy her life while my INNOCENT SISTER ROTS IN JAIL AND MY OTHER NIECE ALSO AN INNOCENT BY STANDER IN ALL OF THIS HAS TO BE IN A FOSTER FAMILY.Why does she get to be free while everyone else is caught in her web of lies?

Coloardo is cold and the weather has a mind of its own. It is great to hear that you got onto the right path and are making a positive out of a negative. I am sure your brother is proud of you and wants the best for you. I know your mother is probably grateful for you doing well in school and excelling in sports.

Well I'm not having a very good day. Last night at 10;00 my sister called to tell me that they had her in a holding cell awaiting transport. She was crying and scared. I felt sick, and FULL of HATERED toward my niece. We only got to talk for a minute cause they where there to get her. I cryed. Then at 6:00 this morning the deputy that took her called to let me know where she was. I was so gratefull to this man. It means alot just knowing where she is and for her to know that we know where she is. They put here in the Plane Unit 300 miles away.
