Hello everyone, I am working with an agency in Dutchess County, NY and I am writing to let you all know that there are programs such as Big Brother Big Sisters who can help you and your children through the tougher times. Big Brothers Big Sisters recruits children of incarcerated parents and volunteers in the community. They match a mentor with a child so that they can have a little extra support, activity and share time with someone freely without feeling down or judged. The volunteers will take the children out to a movie, a local ball game, or participate in almost any activity that your child enjoys. They are recruiting kids all the time and so if you are from Dutchess County and are looking for someone for your child to look up to and spend a short time with every month, give a call to Big Brothers Big Sisters: 845-452-5104. Please remember that your child should be from Dutchess County, however, there are Big Brother Big Sister agencies all over New York State. BBBS also supports children who do not have a parent incarcerated, who maybe just needs an outlet. My program in specifics is for youth with incarcerated parents. it's been three years----does the pain never stop?

sorry ive know message..but im not dealing well tonight, thinking of my son...i just needed to release some mother's tears.

so many people who said they where friends, and even family..have just drifted away. it's almost as if my son never existed to them.. out of site out of mind.

i know my son hurts, i see it in his eyes on visits. hear it in his voice when he calls me every morning for 15 min. we talk of weather. his bass guitar. my health....but always he wants infromation of his son now 15 and his daughter now 13.wants pictures. but his wife refuses anything. she devoriced him his first year in. im not allowed contact with the kids either.....

do people realize these men and women behind the wall. bury their faces in the pillows at night trying to mute the great racking sobs and heart breaking pain. do they not know they long to be held? know guess not! people drive by the prisons with out a thaught.

do those same heartless people realize----that every one on the street is maybe a moment away from doing something that may put them behind those sharp razor wires?

my son will be 40 in nov. i'll be 67 in jan. he got 10 to 20 maybe parole in five? but then they tell me the prison most always turns down first parole????? i understand nothing of the way the system works.....all i know is the prison here in neb. has hateful staff. they are there to put in their hours to get that pay check and state benifiets.

oh i could go on and on and fill a libary on the poor shabby hatefull way our loved ones are treated.

the food, the medical care. the bagering of the guards. the lack of school and job training to help when they are released. the out rageous prices in the canteen for food and clothing.

sorry about all this hate but it helps me cut the pain for the time that i ***.

i hope any and all who have a loved one in lock-down the best. love that person of yours and do not judge or dwell on the sometime silence they sit in.....these loved ones of ours are not the same people we knew when they went in. but they are still our sons and daughters . husbands, fathers,mothers. wives. sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles.... and friends.LOVE THEM---LOVE THEM and LOVE THEM SOME MORE.

My name is Karen and on May 28,2009 I was at court with my boyfriend for the 4th time and this time, the worst happened....they took him into custody. He is currently local so I have visited but soon they will transfer him up-state to a drug treatment correctional facility.

This is my first experience with this sort of thing and I'm having a hard time. We really didn't expect them to take him. He has been doing well for soo long. The weekend was really hard for me. He made me promise to stay strong so.....that's what I have to do. Maybe with the help of others in a similar situation will help me. I hope so.

We are now casting for a new documentary cable series about women who meet and marry (or plan to marry) their husbands while the men are incarcerated.

This is NOT a Jerry Springer type show. We are hoping to share the real stories of women who meet and fall in love with men who happen to be behind bars.

A prison, penitentiary, or correctional facility is a place in which individuals are physically confined or interned and usually deprived of a range of personal freedoms. Prisons are conventionally institutions, which form part of the criminal justice system of a country, such that imprisonment or incarceration is a legal penalty that may be imposed by the state for the commission of a crime.

how would I find out what my mothers ADC number is going to be.......she is suppose to be moving to state from county and she said that if she had an ADC number already then they have already started transferring her paperwork...??????? Is there anyway this could be found out???

It's been weeks since my little brother was sent to nksp. I received one letter and that has been the only letter that i have received from him, i know that he wouldn't stop writing to me, i know that he has money to buy what he need because i make sure that i deposit in his account often. Has anyone else had this problem. How long does it take for them to get their supplies after requested? Can any one tell me the mail rules.Can i send him my own stamps?

I am very worried about the wars going on right now, I was reading today about the 20 people that died in the Juarez prison on the 4th , They said 7 to 9 of those death where not even related to what was going on just got in the middle .... That worry's me because the Sanchez unit is in El paso Tx and they said they would be helping in housing any one they need help with ... That is a very scary thing for me to think that if some thing did go down and he was around him also getting hurt or worse ... It is so hard to sit here on this side of the fence and feel like you can not do any thing , any worry all the time ... I try to be strong and think every thing will be okay, But Some days are just really hard not having the one you love with you. And when you hurt or you get stressed , that is the one you want to run too and there not there to make it all better ... But i just keep telling my self 11 more months .... So that is not too long it could have been alot worse ... I will just be happy when this is all over with...

Joshua Anderson Gray at Piedmont Correctional Center in Salisbury NC. He is serving 11-14 months for felony hit and run although his original charge was for 2nd degree murder after he purposely ran and re-ran over a man in his OWN yard and killed him. Is anyone out here have a friend/loved one or aquaintence that is serving time with him? If so please let me know. Thanks.

My grandson and 2 grand daughters (5,4&3) daddy got out of prison today after 2 years. He and my daughter never married and we have never approved of their relationship. They both have gotten into some real trouble together and we have never allowed him around. ( He's also married) They say it's because he is black but that is not the reason (if it were we wouldn't have taken care of her and the kids all these years.) We bought a place that had a trailer right behind us and moved her in there (she is 30 yrs. old) She was in prison 7 yrs ago. We try to keep her out of trouble but she doesn't see that.... anyway. She went after him today (about a 500 mile drive) and she has brought him here. The 2 youngest are living with his mom ( they just went and got them) his little boy is so tickled his daddy came home, we backed down and said he could come here to see his son. She is moving him in I guess until he figures out what he wants to do. How do we handle this?? He has never supported them or helped in anyway, nor the government, they have lived with us and up to last mo. we paid every bill (she fianaly got a job at Mc Donalds after we bought her another car). She doesn't want us in any of her bussiness as she calls it and goes into rages if either of us say anything about anything. I'm just worried about how to handle him being here???? Any suggestions. (I really want him to get going in the right direction!!)

I belong to a group that does prison ministry and visit inmates and listen to their problems. I would like to do the same here. Everyone knows the old saying, "if I had known then what I know now" meaning that we might have done things differently. Well since today is November, It's been a few years since my ex-boyfriend was "taken". It brings me back to when I was a kid and I was head over heels in love I swore to myself that I would marry him someday! Had I known as a kid that he would turnout leaving me for prison, I wouldn't have that same good feeling everytime I hear one of his songs because I would not have been in love with him. Know what I'm saying? In this instance, I am grateful that I didn't know then what I know now.
