SCI Waymart P.O. Box 256, Route #6 Waymart, PA 18472 (570) 488-5811 |

SCI Waymart is located in a building
complex that was formerly part of Farview State Hospital. Pressed into
operation ahead of schedule following the 1989 Camp Hill riot, the
joint on-site operation of a state prison and state mental health
facility was unique. In October 1995, Farview State Hospital was
transferred from the Department of Public Welfare to the Department of
Corrections. Now known as the department's Forensic Treatment Unit, the
unit houses mentally disabled male inmates who require inpatient
psychiatric care and treatment. The institution also houses
minimum-security inmates. |

only one inmate per day and each inmate shall have no more than one

All visitors must be on the
inmate's approved visiting list before they will be allowed to enter
the institution. It is the inmate?s responsibility to request additions
and deletions to the list.
General visiting guidelines
Please
be on time for your visit. It may take time to locate an individual
inmate for a visit, and we ask you to please be patient.
Have
proper identification with you, preferably a driver?s license or other
photo ID. You will not be permitted to visit without proper
identification.
Please be sure to sign in upon your arrival
and sign out before you leave. If you travel to private vehicle, you
will be asked to register the year, make, model and license number.
All
visitors are subject to search upon entering the institution, while at
the institution, and before leaving the institution. If you refuse to
be searched before entering the institution, your visiting privileges
may be denied. If you refuse to be searched while in the institution or
upon leaving the institution, you may be detained until the appropriate
law enforcement authorities arrive.
Cameras, tape recorders, radios and handbags are not permitted in the visiting area.
Visits
are a minimum of one hour in length; however, this may be increased
depending upon the number of visits occurring that day.
Inmates placed in disciplinary custody status may have their visiting privileges restricted.
Please
use good judgment and discretion in dress and behavior so as not to
embarrass others or yourself in the visiting area. Keep children under
control. Failure to do so may result in early termination of your

regulations or posted regulations may result in the suspension of
visiting privileges.

Department of Corrections encourages you to put money on inmate accounts
electronically using one of the two following options:
