General The West Shoreline Correctional Facility is one of three in a complex of facilities for male offenders. As part of a complex, it shares some operations with the other facilities. There are eight separate housing units contained in four buildings. Each unit has 120 beds. The remaining buildings are used for administration, health services, school, library, maintenance, storage and mail office. The West Shoreline Correctional Facility and the Brooks Correctional Facility were the first two prisons to share services. Positions shared with Brooks are warden and warden's staff, business manager, personnel officer, training staff, school principal, mail room staff, physical plant superintendent and warehouse manager. During 1991, the prison was converted from a Level II facility to a Secure Level I facility. Programming Academic programs consist of Adult Basic Education and General Education Development completion. Vocational programs are available in office occupations and custodial maintenance. Other programs include sex-offender treatment, substance-abuse treatment and religious services.

Prisoners are provided with on-site routine medical and dental care. Serious problems are treated at the department's Duane L. Waters Hospital in Jackson, and emergencies can be referred to a local hospital.
