    Re: Indiana Women's Prison

Dec. 13, 2007......Until just last week, there was a possibility our daughter would go to Indiana Women's Prison.  I called a couple of times there and spoke with a couple of Program Directors.  It seems they have a good visiting schedule for children and child friendly visitation environment.  They also have a brand new (or very soon to be open) nursery program and "wing".  Pregnant inmates are permitted to keep their babies with them at the prison unit for up to 18 months.  The ladies I spoke with were very friendly and informative and seemed to be very involved with helping families stay united.  I can't "vouch" for the program, as my daughter doesn't have to go there.....she gets to come home on house arrest.
