MISSION: Houses the most recalcitrant and aggressive male adult offenders incarcerated in the Georgia Prison system. The prison includes a Mental Health unit and a unit for HIV-positive prisoners.
HOUSING: Consists of eleven buildings containing four two-tiered cell blocks with single cells. Cell blocks are organized into two general population units and one special management unit. Trusty inmates reside at the Fire State away from the main compound.
WORK DETAILS: Due to their custody levels, prisoners remain within the confines of the main compound of the prison. Special authorization allows inmate assignment to the Fire Station.
DIRECTIONS: From Atlanta: I-75 to Macon then I-16 towards Savannah. Exit on Highway 29 below Dublin. Turn right towards Vidalia. From Vidalia take Highway 280 to Lyons then turn right at the first traffic light. Georgia State Prison is located approximately 20 miles South of Lyons on Highway 178 and Highway 147.
