This is my first post and I am really excited about this site. I never knew it existed. I have a few questions and I am hoping someone can give me some direction. I am trying to find out if federal prisoners are given their release date from the beginning? And is there a way to get information on a case, like finding out how much time was sentenced? Isn't it illegal for inmates not to know when they are getting out? If there is a website or phone number anyone knows of, that would be great. The reason I am asking is that I am struggling with the fact that I think my boyfriend is not telling me the date on purpose because he is afraid that I won't be there for him. This makes me hurt and mad at the same time. I love him with all my heart and wish that he would trust that I will be here forever. But I do deserve to know how much time I have to wait before we can be together again. Not knowing makes it harder because I dont have a light at the end of the tunnel.

And welcome to the website. Your boyfriend should know his expected release date. It may change, but he should know the general date. Try calling the prison he is at and speaking to his counselor, he too can give you the release date.
