I have a son in prison. He was at county jail for over 30 days waiting for court then he was sent to Polk Youth Institution for processing. They finally moved him to Morrison. I finally got to go see him last week, it seemed like it's a better place than Polk, but I always check online to see if they move him because they are good for that. It's over 2 hours to get there from where I am so I did not get there to see him today, I checked online and it said he had 2 infractions, does anyone know what that means. I am so concerned about this. This is his first time in. I tried to get long distance on my phone but it is going to cost $50.00 to set it up, that is so depressing not being able to talk to him, does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks
I understand what your saying not being able to see your son. My fiance is at Central Prison in NC and right now because of our complaints they gurads are retailating against him. As for the infractions those aren't good. The infractions means he went against the prisons policy or the guards framed him because they are good at doing that. When the inmates get an infraction they lose some of their priviledges. Hang in there!
Thank you so much for the reply, I was beginning to think I was the only one on here that had a loved one in NC. You will never believe this, me my other son and his girlfriend drove for 2 and a half hours in the pouring rain Sunday to see him and they said we could not see him, that his visitation was taken, due to 2 infractions, I was so mad. So I call and talk to his case worker she told me he had broken the rules . That's messed up in my opinion. After all I am his mother and should be able to see him.
I agree, and I would be curious to know what infractions he actually got...but don't tell me, because I try not to get nosy with other people's businesses.
Generally speaking, the safest way to check on this is to call the week or the Friday before you come visit. that saves you time and money in travel, but I can agree with you if you told me that you did not know this infraction was there.
Still, the prison has to uphold the rule in that if the infraction was serious enough, they can take away his visitation for awhile. But I also have to think that the infraction has already been punished or in the process, because if he was in a seg cell waiting for his resolution board hearing, he should have still been given some visit.
there are some questions on that, but again, I don't want to pry on the details. I hope things have gotten better for him and you since then.
i have a brother in prison in nc also but hang in there and infraction means that he either got in trouble for something they "think" he shouldnt have done or for fighting good luck

Oh! Thank you so much, it is so good to know there is someone on here that has a son at the same place. I have learned a lot since joining here. My son don't really like it there either, but I'm glad that he is with younger guys his age, he's 21. He has been working on getting his GED and has already taken 2 of his tests, so that is a positive, his date for getting out will be in Feb 09. I do wish it was closer to home cause I can only go see him once a month, it takes me about 2 hours to drive there. I do send him books, it helps him to pass the time. I try to find something true stories novels and any self help books, hopefully he will learn from this experience and not ever have to go back.
