I'm sorry, but the visits are one hour behind glass while he's in reception and you must be approved before you can visit.

You say he sent you a visiting form - I hope he signed the back because it must be signed.  The average time to get approved to visit is 30 to 60 days.  Once you are approved you can visit.  No appointment is necessary.

He'll be in reception for from 3 - 5 months.  The average is about 3 months.  There are no calls during reception either.  Sorry.

Hope this helps.

You are so wonderful and i appreciate all of the information you have posted on here.

I have been looking for phone #'s @ NKSP, So i could find out some information such as my sons Counselor and a mailing address for the counselor.  I also wanted to find out the direct mailing address to send the visitation forms to, i hear they get processed faster if sent direct, instead of thru inmate>

Ive looked on the NKSP website but, when i call the # they give it rings and no one ever picks up.

thanks in advance for any help.

(661) 721-2345 (General) This is the number to Delano, NKSP, they should be able to direct you to where you need to go.  Be aware that this number is hit and miss, but don't give up...and when they go through all the options, press 0 for the operator...it's fastest.   The visiting forms are to go directly back to the inmate, but when they search the mail, they take them out and pass them along to the visiting Sargeant.  I believe his name is Sgt. Franco, as my ex just transferred from Delano, and I actually spoke directly with the Sargeant last time I visited him there.  The visits do suck, as they are behind glass and you are lucky if they give you over the hour that is standard.  The only way to have contact visits there, is if he is going to stay at NKSP for his sentence, and they transfer him to Gen Pop.  It sucks, and my ex was there for 4 months with no phone, and glass wall visits. Hang in there!
