I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO WRITE IN ABOUT MY VISIT. ME AND MY MOM WENT.I CALLED AHEAD TO GET APPROVED FOR 4 HRS SAT. &4 HRS SUN. WE LEFT HOME AT 1:00 PM FRIDAY THE 14TH OF MARCH GOT THERE (EDINBURG TX)12:30 PM. GOT A MOTEL 105.00 FOR 3 NIGHTS AND IT WAS A PRETTY NICE MOTEL. CLEAN FRIDGE, MICROWAVE, CARPORT. GOT UP SATERDAY AFTER A SLEEPLESS NIGHT GOT THERE AT THE PRISON AROUND 11:00 AM. ALL THE GUARDS WHERE NICE. WE SAT AT A TABLE WITH 3 CHAIRS AND WAITED. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER MY SUNSHINE CAME WALKING THRIUGH THAT DOOR. IT WAS ALL I COULD DO NOT TO RUN OVER TO HIM. HE HUGGED ME SO TIGHT AND SO LONG.WE HAD A GOOD VISIT AFTER 2 HOURS A GUARD CAME AND TOLD US TIME UP WE TOLD HIM WE HAD BEEN APPROVED FOR A SPECIAL VISIT AND HE WENT TO CHECK SO ON WENT OUR VISIT. WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO I WAS OK BECAUSE I KNEW I'D BE SEEING HIM THE NEXT DAY. WE WENT TO GET SOME REST TOOK SOME PICTURES AET AND WENT TO BED. I WAS SAD CAUSE I KNEW THE NEXT DAY WAS THE LAST.WE GOT THERE AT 10:00 AM. AGAIN THE LONG HUG. IT'S LIKE HE WAS SAYING MOM DON'T LEAVE ME IN HERE. WE HAD A GOOD BUT SAD VISIT AND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO I CRYED LIKE A BABY. I HUGGED HIM AS LONG AS I COULD THEN I HAD TO LET GO AND GET OUT OF THERE CAUSE I COULDN'T HOLD IT IN ANYMORE. JUST OUTSIDE OF THAT ROOM WAS A TABLE AND CHAIR, A GOOD THING TOO BECAUSE I WAS CRYING SO HARD I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO FAINT.WE WENT TO SOUTH PADRE ISLAND THEN GOT LOST THEN TO EAT AND BACK TO THE MOTEL, AGAIN NO SLEEP. MONDAY WAS HEARTBREAKING CAUSE I HAD TO PASS THE PRISON TO GET HOME. I FELT LIKE A TRAITER LEAVING HIM THERE. I DID HAVE TO PULL ONTO THE ROAD LEADING TO THE PRISON TO IN A SCENCE SAY GOOD-BYE. I DROVE ALL THE WAY BACK. MY MOM WAS ON MY LAST NERVE. ALL THE WAY THERE SHE HELPED ME DRIVE MAYBE 50 MILES.I WAS REALLY GLAD TO GET HER HOME TO HER OWN HOUSE. GOD WILLING I WILL BE GOING BACK SOMETIME THIS SUMMER WITH MY GIRLS. HE WAS UPSET THAT I DIDN'T TAKE THE GIRLS, BUT THE TWO LITTLE ONES WHERE JUST GETTING OVER A BUG AND MY BLAZER NEEDS FREON. IT WAS 108 THERE ON SATERDAY. WELL I WOULDN'T TAKE FOR MY VISIT WITH MY BABY. AND TO THINK I ALMOST DIDN'T GET TO GO. THE GIRLS SICK, GAS PRICES, THE DISTENCE. THEN I THOUGHT OF HIM SITTING THERE WAITING TO HEAR HIS NAME CALLED FOR VISITATION AND NO ONE GOING TO SEE HIM. THE THOUGHT JUST BROKE MY HEART I COULDN'T DO THAT TO HIM. I GOT TO HUG HIM AFTER 1 YEAR OF NO CONTACT. THANK YOU JASUS FOR MAKING IT POSSABLE.
Hello Tammy~ Thank you for sharing your visit with me. It must of felt so wonderful to finely touch him after a year. You having to drive so far makes me relize how lucky i am that i only have to drive 3 hours to give my son a big hug. God bless you and your family
Take care
neverforget
HI, MY SON IS IN JAIL 1,000 MILES AWAY FROM ME. I RECENTLY WENT TO VISIT HIM AND HAD TO LOOK AT HIM ON A MONITOR . CAN'T WAIT UNTIL HE IS MOVED SO I CAN GIVE HIM A HUG.
Wow thats is a long ways to drive how much longer until he is transfered to a prison? I remember thinking the same thing when my son was in county jail he was there for a year.
I hope you get to give him a hug real soon.
Hello Lady, What state is your son in? my son is in a California state prison he is about 250 miles from home. I am only able to isit him once a month how often are you able to visit your son? I hope you don't mind me asking you so many questions.
Sincerely;
Hi Debbie~ how are you holding up?
HELLO, NEVERFORGET NO I DON'T MIND THE QUESTIONS MY SON IS IN WISCONSIN AND I ONLY WENT TO VISIT ONCE, WHEN HE IS MOVED TO A FACILITY THAT HAS CONTACT VISTS I WILL TRY TO VISIT EVERY 2 TO 3 MONTHS. ITS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE TO FLY 3 AND GET A HOTEL I HAVE LEGAL CUSTODY OF ONE OF HIS SONS AND I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE BOTH AT LEAST THE FIRST CONTACT VISIT.
HELLO I WON'T BE DRIVING IT WOULD TAKE ME ABOUT 15 TO 18 HOURS TO DRIVE AND 2 HOURS ON A PLANE.
hello I just sing in looking for answers my son is in Norco Ca and I am in LA very good for me I visit him every oportunity but now they want to move him out of the state I do not know what to do do you have any ideas?
I am so sorry to hear they are moving your son out of state, I do not know what if anything can be done to stop them from what i have read. this is one of my biggest fears too do you know what state they want to transfering him to?
There is a prison blog I wrote called, "What to wear to a visit" and to the novice it might have meant what to wear physically, but that was not what I meant.
I write prison blogs, and from time to time I get emails about issues like this, and I try to make it a point to let parents know that when you visit, you must be the strong one.
Now, I know parents are going to cry and stuff, but that's normal. But as an ex offender, let me tell you why this can be a problem. You don't see the other side of prison AFTER the visit. You don't see how broken your son or daughter is after the visit, and how they have almost no venue to gather themselves.
You do. You can go to church, you can call a friend, you can take a walk, watch a movie, go online, anything...inmates can't so they have to hold in this mountain of feelings after seeing someone they care about. Now...imagine this...they remember the LAST thing you do.
So if you are crying, it is the last thing they remember, and it hurts.
I know it is hard, but when you visit someone you love, the idea is to encourage one another, right, not to break down and cry. You have to give that person something positive to remember you by, so he can be encouraged to get through another day.
I could go on and on with this, but I will have to keep it short, my blogs are pretty long.
Best wishes guys, and be encouraged.
