San Carlos Correctional Facility ( SCCF ) is located on the campus of the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo Colorado. SCCF supports a capacity of 255 special needs offenders. San Carlos consists of three main buildings with 137,000 square feet. The cost of construction to include start up funds and equipment allocations totaled $22,600,000.00. A 250-bed expansion has been approved for San Carlos Correctional Facility increasing the beds to 505.
San Carlos mission is to protect the public, staff and offenders, effectively and efficiently manage incarcerated male mentally ill and developmentally disabled offenders, provide intervention and treatment in a secure, safe, clean and humane environment and prepare offenders for reintegration to general population or the community.
