The Rifle Correctional Center is a 192 bed, minimum security prison located on a 23 acre site in rural Garfield County, eight miles from the city of Rifle. Rifle provides community labor, but also occupies inmates in a variety of programs including, secondary education, vocational training and a reintegration program intended to reduce recidivism. The prison is home to a certified firefighting crew which has responded to wildfires all over the state. The prison has a full-time staff of 47 and employs 4 contract workers.
