My husband was there until Thursday and was moved.  The visitation is pretty strict.  I am in the DFW area as well and you get one 2hr visit a week Sat. or Sun. only.  Make sure to not wear anything tight fitting or revealing.  Never wear open toed shoes.  I always just wore t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers with socks.  I never had any trouble with that.  I have seen women turned away for wearing the wrong clothing or sandals.  Just go online at TDCJ and get the visitor hand book and it will tell you every thing.  You can also bring $20 worth of change to get him some snacks make sure to bring them in a see thru baggie.

If there is anything else you need dont hesitate to let me or any one else know.  That is what we are here for.

How did I miss this post without posting,,???

My name is Sonja, My husbnad is at the lynaugh unit in fort stockton texas.  I have been involved with this lovely prison system since April of 07.  I realize that is not that long, but the things I have learned is such a short time is amazing....  We have 20 months left on our sentance.  yes I say ours cuz even though razor wire does not surround my home I feel that I am also doing this time. Time without him, time lost due to this season in our lives.

I am just praying that we survive this ordeal and that we can get on with our lives and take what we have learned from this to help others go in the other direction.

God is the author of our lives yes, but at times we choose a different path and end up having to deal with the consuqence of not listening to his voice.

    Re: Texas Member Introductions

Hello!! My name is Cin, my fiancee Lonnie is serving a 5yr sentence in TDCJ for his 3rd DWI since May 2007. He was granted parole and will be home sometime in October or November. I'm a mother of 3 teenagers, 2 english mastiffs, a pomeranian, a blue heeler, a kitty, a ringtailed lemur & a ferret....oh, and a baby rat. Yep, got my hands full just a little bit with all my babies...but I love them and they keep my time & my brain occupied.

In the short time Lonnie has been in TDCJ, I have learned SO MUCH...but I feel dealing with TDCJ is just like dealing with any other state or city office...you have to know these peoples job better than they do just so you can get the correct information. Most of these people in these jobs arent there to help the people they work for, they are there to make that weekly check, and the least amount of work they have to do to each day to get by is exactly what they will do...no more. This is why I feel like EVERYONES pay scale at their employment should be based on their production rate and the quality of their work!

    Ok, Im opinionated too....LOL!!!

Hi Ladies, My name is Susan. My husband is in the Lablance Unit Beaumont Tx. The kids and I live in Bay City Tx. It's only a couple hours drive to visit. With gas being so high its hard to go every weekend, which brings me to my opinion of the prison system; It sucks. We have 3 maybe 4 prison within 30-45 min. of us, so why put our loved so far away. I think if they could house them closer to home, they might not be so restless. It would make us all feel closer to each other and therefore maybe relieve a little stress. But who are we to say how they run the system.

Wouldnt it be GREAT if we here on the internet could find others and sort of set up a trade of prisoner for prisoner between the jails....obviously TDCJ cant do it...

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree,,, Leo is at lynaugh which is understaffed by 65%,,, my fear is that they move them and shut that place down.. Im only 240 miles away now and weekend trips are easy, if he gets moved god knows how ill get there.

    Re: Texas Member Introductions

Okay someone needs to tell them that they would do better if they were closer to people that love them.  Also whats up with limiting them to just 10 people.  We have more family that would love to visit but with the kids and my parents there isn't any more room to put them on.

My Sunshine was close only about 2 1/2 to 3hrs away now he is 6hrs away.  He feels so far and it is a very long and tiring drive.  There are several prisons within an hour or less to my house but yet this is what they do.  I dont think they have a clue or maybe they are just that over crowded and have no where else to send them.  I dont know I just want him home as we all want our love ones home.

    Rambling now leaving.  lolConfused

    Re: Texas Member Introductions

I wish he was closer to you.  What I dont get is why they limit thier visitation.  Okay first off all in a federal prison I belive you can go when they start visitaiton and be the last one to leave when it is over. At least here at La Tuna it was like that, my friends husband was in prison and she went and stayed all day long.

Then why are we limited to one 2 hour visist,  why cant we go sat and sunday.  What is it hurting?  Nothing. Im sure that if these loved ones saw us more often it would help out moral as well. And someone tell me why Texas doesnt have conjugal visists?????   Talk about my husband being on good behavoir to get that.
