Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility is an American Correctional Association accredited medium security facility located near Ordway, Colorado, approximately 50 miles east of Pueblo.
The mission of the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility is to ensure the safety and security of staff, the public and offenders through PRODUCTIVE means.

Visiting this Facility:
Visiting Hours are 11:00am to 4:00pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Visitors may visit on Friday and Saturday, or Friday and Sunday, but not on Saturday and Sunday of the same weekend. The DOC website will post an announcement when visitation is cancelled.

Before Visiting Before you can visit an offender housed in a DOC facility you must fill out a Visiting Application.
A broad range of educational opportunities are available including English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, GED and Vocational Preparation.
Career and Technical Trades programs offered at AVCF include Drafting, Culinary Arts, Electronics, Computer Graphics, Construction Technology (Toys for Tots), Custodial Training and Welding.
Correctional Industries work programs available include Modular Office Systems Furniture Manufacturing, Plastic Bag Manufacturing, Computer Aided Drafting and Information Systems.
The facility opened in 1987 and houses 1,007 offenders. It was the first new major adult facility built outside the Canon City area.
The facility employs 302 staff of which over fifty percent are residents of the Arkansas Valley area.
