Hi- I'm hoping to open a forum for this prison. There is no place available for us to be able to communicate on the issues of this prison. Please join me here if you have a loved one in this prison.
Various Driving Directions are listed below which gives a good idea of the location:
The first directions from Los Angeles are actually the best, but you can consult a map and decide for yourself or use Mapquest. There may be better ones as well.
The second directions give relative mileage and travel time. I'm sure there are other routes that work, and if others will post the best way, this would be helpful.

Thanks for posting the info on Sierra. Who do you have incarcerated there? Friend? Family? How much more time?
Does anyone know if there are Sierra Conversation inmates working the Los Angeles fires?
It looks like the Sierra men will be helping with the fires along with all of the inmate fire fighters as per the news release earlier today.
God bless them all, look over them as well as all of the other fire fighters and families involved.
Its nice to have a place where we can come to get info on SCC.. I was looking at the directions that were posted the first time I was there I come from S.Cali and we took the Lander exit, a very nice lady poited out to us that exiting on 16th st. was easier and it was for us so I wanted to post those directions as well

Thank you very much for the information. I did not have a chance to look into this before I left, I will take you up on this information for the future. Not quite sure when I will be able to go again. This was quite a drive for one person, but I did it. YEAH!!! Have you been lately?
Not a problem, that's what we are here for to try to help each other out when possible
It is a pretty long drive for just one person, I haven't tried it myself when we've gone my parents come along I drive on our way there and my dad drives back, for some reason I always have a problem driving back I get very sleepy... we are going next week at least that's the plan, we were there about a month ago, if it were up to me we would go every other week but my husband says its not worth it cause we would get terminated so we just do the every 30 days all day visit..If you dont mind me asking what yard do you visit?
Thank you. I have met some amazing people during all of this ordeal. You seem to be very nice and kind. My boyfriend is on Mariposa yard. He just got there almost a month ago. How long have you been going and what yard do you visit? By the way how long does your husband have? If you don't mind me asking. The drive is pretty long, but I would consider doing it again just to see him. This first visit was so worth it. I was so scared our visits were going to be terminated. I was so scared to even hold his hand. No thats pathetic but that is how I felt. Hope to here from you again soon.
Things will get easier over time, and as both of you get you to how the visits work... I know from the stand point of being in there... It is hard for both sides. But it does get better...
