Hey Debbie - yep, apparently his celly is being investigated.  The victim had sustained more injuries than would normally occur just from "falling" from the upper bunk.  It's being investigated as a homicide.

The rumor that Walkenhorst's was being removed as an approved vendor for KVSP is FALSE.

Packages are now being distributed, but as all packages had to be returned to R&R for x-raying, there is a considerable backup on this and EXISTING packages are going to take up to 2 months to be handed out because the warden will not authorize overtime for the staff in R&R. Per Sgt. Serrano.

Please let your loved ones know that the Walkenhorst's rumor was false. 

The Surenos on B yard went down last week over an issue with the Blacks.  They are currently locked down, but are being allowed visits, Canteen, and packages.  No phone calls, no movement except legal or medical appts. 

PLEASE SEND ME INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SEND A PACKAGE TO MY HUSBAND AT NORTH KERN STATE PRISON RECEPTION DELANO . CAN I USE A PREPAID CREDIT CARD? HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT LEVEL HES ON AND WHAT WEBSITE I NEED TO REGISTER ON. ALSO WHAT VENDERS SEND TO  THIS PRISON.

Reception inmates are not allowed packages.  You can put money on his books that he can use monthly at Canteen, but that's about it while he's in reception.  Once he hits mainline somewhere he can have quarterly packages.  The approved vendors ship to all prisons in the state, so once he is settled, you have a choice of vendors to choose from. 

All yards are normal EXCEPT for D yard, which is completely slammed.  NO VISITS (even glass visits) for ANY inmates in buildings 1-8 and the gym on D yard.

The hotline changed again last night to reflect this change to D yard visiting:

White, Black and Southern Hispanic inmates in buildings 1-8 and the gym are NO VISITS.

Northern Hispanics and 'Others' are normal for visiting. 

If you had made an appointment for a non-contact visit this weekend with a White or Black inmate - that visit has been cancelled. 

Visiting for this weekend is normal for all yards.  Rain showers are expected for tomorrow morning, so remember that if you want to wear rain gear, only CLEAR raincoats or ponchos can have hoods.

Just a reminder that it's the 31st, which means no program today - so no phone calls.

Visiting tomorrow on New Year's Day is normal for all yards.  Hours are the usual, 8:30-2:30pm

I wanted to wish all here in the KVSP family a happy 2008.  This should prove to be a very interesting year what with 3 ballot initiatives of great importance to all of us.  I urge you all to regisiter to vote if you haven't already and to sign the petitions for the 3 Strikes Reform Bill of 2008 and the petitions for the reinstatement of family visits for lifers.

 I pray for that too!  Let's get the 3 strikes law reformed and family visits for lifers reinstated.  That would make 2008 a WONDERFUL year, indeed!!
