The stories Micah tells me about guys getting jumped and sexually assaulted send chills up my spine. I can't believe the stories are all true. HAs anyone else been told these types of tales?
No I haven't so far. I just know old information for when I was a jail liaison in ATL. I will look out for anything that may be of interest as I go. It's a horrible realityjust like the inmate on inmate attacks I have heard of. We do need safer prisons, so I'll share anything I find.
NM
im afraid that it is more common then most want to admit. it has been an on going problem for many decades now.
Here is a question, do you all think that if they allowed conjugal visits it would deter the number of prison rapes... I can not even imagine. I think that would be enough fo my man to take his life...
It may decrease it, but It wouldnt stop it.
wow, i just notice u in el paso? not far from me at all
lulu where are you at? El Paso, the edge of texas, lol,,,,,,, at least its not far from my husband only 240 miles away, so that gives me the chance to see him every saturday. Where are you at???
oops my bad, I was thinking pecos, how ever, your about 5 hours from me. Im in west texas :)
The first time I've heard about prison rape, was from an ex-room mate I had years ago. I was an undergraduate college student, and we were desperate to take anyone to help with the rent; we had a 3-bedroom apartment. The first time I met the guy, I was skeptical about his character. He was muscular and had tattoos all over, so he struck me as gangbanger type, but he was also passive in his demeanor and tone of voice. His body language and soft-spoken manner contradicted the message he was sending with his body's physique & what looks like gang-type tattoos on his arms and neck. Over time, I realized I was being prejudice because of his looks & the way he dresses. The guy held a full-time minimum wage job as a dishwasher, then later took a 2nd job as a janitor in the grave-yard shift. Wasn't very educated or smart, but I respected him for putting long hours at minimum-wage pay. The guy was willing to sweat and work hard to earn his $$, in spite it was minimum-wage pay. He would also come straight home from work and either rest, watch TV, or workout in his room with free weights to maintain his built. Most blue-collar type guys would hit the bars after work or on the weekends, but this guy would only buy his drinks from the grocery store and drink light to moderately by himself while watching TV. So we developed a friendship over time, and when he felt comfortable with me and my 3rd roommate, is when he shared his biography. When we first met him, he had only been recently released from state prison. He sold drugs and was running with gangs, until he got caught with a large amount in his possession. He was first attracted to gangs and selling drugs because of the easy $$ and loose women, but after all the time he served in prison, he realized he could've made more $$ on minimum wage than sitting and rotting away in jail. So prison had changed his perspective on low pay. He claims that inside prison, getting gang-raped (sodomized) was how they break you mentally. You either go insane and just walk around in a catatonic state, or it converts you into becoming gay, and you begin to sell yourself to get cigarettes, candy, etc... This is why you join a gang inside prison, for protection. When you turn gay, one of the gangs will adopt you, and you become a male prostitute for them. He claims there's an underground market of male prostitutes in all men's prisons, which is created by the policy of mixing gay men with straight men. Unless a guy had drastically modified himself (grown bre+ast from hormone treatment, aka she-male), the prison does not separate gay from straight men. He served all his time in one prison, but talking to the lifers who had been transferred from one state prison to another, the lifers tell him its the same everywhere, except in minimum security prison, where you're allowed more privileges for showing good behavior, and all the inmates are docile and compliant.
