yeah. well i talked to my friend who tells me Lamesa aint much but rock country and lots of goats...very few cattle........doesnt sound too appealing.
they dont have an online newspaper unfortunately, and if you Google the Smith Unit and Lamesa, you will find very little info on the town..........
so it looks like Lamesa and the Smith Unit are pretty much out on the prairie alone!

Have you been there, yet?

AH & CC, thank you so much for responding to me! No I have not been there yet. i live in North Carolina. I am a teacher with two boys, so money is tight. I don't know when I will be able.

So, so much for Smith Unit. he says the food is horrible but his cell has a shower. Uh, that's because I found out what SEG is all about. before he knew me he was a bad boy. He graduated from a character ed. program now and must do his time in SEG. Oh well.

Thanks again. CC, I also found your post asking should you tell him of the men who want to be your friend. Oh heck no! See my man said that he knew I had needs and that although he wasn't telling me to date, he would not get mad if I did. However, he wanted me to discuss my feelings first and we would talk it out, and he would not bash but be supportive. He has told me this repeatedly. I truly thought "this man is so loving and understanding". I told him I wasn't interested. However, later when I was telling about the antics of my best friend, Pierre, who also likes to flirt, he went commando! I was stunned because that is the furthest thought from our relationship. So No! don't tell him. he couldn't do anything but feel more helpless than he already does.

Thanks Christina,

It always helps to have another perspective about things. I imagine Trae hates it because it was change, but he is feeling better and from what he says you are right. At least he can have visits, if I decide to go there. So, where would we stay when we go see our men and family? ;) They say it is smack in the desert. Paradise  What we won't do for love.

Tell him to sell them or trade for others. I hear they do that alot. I am happy to hear you keep up and support your brother. How long will he be there?

The town sounds dismal then, so you practically have to bring what you want them to have. I guess no malls huh?

MY BROTHER SAYS WHEN HE GETS OUT HE WILL NEVER PASS THROUGH THERE.. LOL AS FOR THE UNIT HE IS COMFORTABLE AT THAT PLACE I AM SURE YOU HAVE TO BE. AS FOR THE VISTS I HAVE HAD THERE PRETTY GOOD AND THE WE ALWAYS GET THE 4 HRS SO THATS NICE.. MY BROTHER HAS FINISHED ALOT OF SCHOOLING THROUGH THE YRS. AND MADE ME LOTS OF STUFF OUT OF LEATHER.. I THINK THAT UNIT IS MORE LAID BACK THEN MOST..

Smith unit is not laid back, I worked there and I hated every moment of working there...I don't think they should treat the "inmates" like they do..and for the ones in fort stockton, the Lynauh unit, tell them not to piss of a "Officer Strother" he doesnt control his anger...

Good luck with your brother and for the rest of you that have family & friends in Smith unit Good luck with everything.  Smile
